Credit card management is not easy even for a practical person like me. How do you manage your card?
- Have a small notebook with you where you can jot down what you have charged during the day on your card. This will remind you of how much you have been using.
- Let your cellphone be your guide when using your card by marking in the calendar the cut-off date of your card. How will it help? When the cut-off is near and you are on the ceiling of your allowable expenses(read: just within your means to pay),postpone using the card until after the cut-off.
- Savings versus credit card payment? If the finance charges is higher than the interest rate of your savings, opt for paying off the credit card debt for the month than stashing those in your bank account.
- Assign the cards on certain expenses. For example, one card should be used only for groceries or household expenses, the other for personal expenses like clothes and shoes, etc. You will be able to track if you are within the budget or not.
- Do not buy groceries without a budget.
- Do not schedule your shopping before meals.Hunger makes you buy more than you need.
-Pay on time.
Do not let your credit card control you. If you think that you cannot stop yourself from using the plastic money, leave it at home.

Save on Electricity
There are many ways to cut down on bills. Although electricity became a necessity, someone who is willing to take responsibility on saving few bucks can accumulate surprisingly a bigger amount after the end of a year.
How do you save on your electrical appliances? Here's how:
1. Although this is common sense, some people tends to ignore unused lights. And some people do not even open their windows to let sunlight in. So if your goal is to save electricity, maximize the sun power.
2. Instead of dryer, hang your clothes outside. You do not only save electricity but also on disinfectant. The sun's Ultraviolet rays take care of some microorganisms that might be bad for you.
3. Not all multi-tasking is okay. You cannot watch television and surf online at the same time. You are not just wasting precious money on wattage but you also grasp only half on what is in the evening news and on what you are doing in your computer.
4. If you can take the weather, there is no need to turn the heater on or the air conditioner a notch higher.
5. If you can wash it manual, why use a dishwasher?
6. Schedule at least twice a week of pressing clothes. There is no need to press small accessories such as handkerchief and things that you wear to sleep or watching tv.
7. Turn off every electrical appliances and switches when you leave the room or the house. It does not only save you on money but also the risk of fire caused by electrical faults.
It wont take time to turn off that radio or unplugged the electric fan. It is just a few stride from where you are standing and will cost you a surprisingly less money than the last time you paid your bill.
A Value for Your Peso
As a college student who lived in my monthly allowance of less than a three-thousand (< P 3,000.00) pesos a month, I have learned to stretch my monthly allowance and imposed discipline to my shopper self. I scouted different shopping places where I can have more value for my peso than that so convenient 24-hour store nearby.
As a student, I've found bookstores who offers second hand books or even brand new books for cheaper prices. I was also able to look for income generators that can supply my Christmas-shopping money for the holiday season.
What I did not learn however is to take a portion of whatever I had for a lifetime savings.
As a working woman, I find it harder to spend less knowing that I am spending my own money. But as I reached my late twenty's, I've learned control and money management. Although I am not million dollar richer since I started earning for myself, I was able to save some for the rainy days. And I am going to blog here ways that might help students and career people like me to cope up with daily living cost.
This blog is all about stretching your peso and dollar. A contribution to frugal and cheapskate individuals without over stretching the money and ignoring quality.
This blog is for you.
